Something is stronger than death: the presence of those who are absent in the memory of the living.

One year after the passing of Professor Valeria Ruggiero, the PhD Programme in Mathematics at UNIFE–UNIMORE–UNIPR wishes to remember her with affection and profound gratitude.

For several years, Professor Ruggiero served as Coordinator of the PhD Programme, dedicating her expertise, passion, and strong sense of responsibility to its growth. She helped build an open, rigorous, and welcoming research environment, paying particular attention to the development of PhD students and fostering both scientific and human dialogue within our community.

Colleagues, students, and young researchers remember her for her generosity, her willingness to help, and her ability to combine scientific rigor with genuine care for people. Her commitment left a deep mark on the PhD Programme, and her legacy continues to live on through the scientific and human values she passed on to others.

As we remember her today, the Mathematics PhD community renews with gratitude the memory of a colleague and a mentor who made a significant contribution to the creation and development of the PhD Programme and to the education and training of many generations of young mathematicians.
